Propionic Acid is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA), produced by Cutibacterium acnes, that plays a significant role in maintaining skin health. It helps to maintain skin’s acidic pH, which is crucial for inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus. This helps in preventing infections and maintaining a balanced skin microbiome.
